PLAYWRIGHT

Ken Urban is a playwright, screenwriter and musician. His play A Guide for the Homesick recently closed its extended run at the DR2, directed by Shira Milikowsky. His plays have been produced by Huntington Theatre Company, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Trafalgar Studios in the West End, Studio Theatre, 59E59 Theatres, London’s Theatre503, First Floor Theater, and The Public Theatre/Summer Play Festival. He is a four-time recipient of the prestigious MacDowell Fellowship and his audio play Vapor Trail was selected for the 2022 Tribeca Festival’s Audio Storytelling series then released as part of Playwrights Horizons’ Sound Stage. Awards include Venturous Theater Fund Finishing Commission, EST/Alfred P. Sloan Science & Technology Project Commission, Weissberger Playwriting Award, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, Independent Reviewers of New England’s Award for Best New Script, Headlands Artist Residency, Millay Arts Residency, Dramatist Guild Fellowship, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellowship. He was recently awarded the 2024 Blue Ink Playwriting Award by Chicago’s American Blues Theater and was one of three winners of the 2023 A is For Playwriting Contest for plays about reproductive justice. He is a resident playwright at New Dramatists and an affiliated writer at the Playwrights’ Center. Ken wrote the screenplay for the feature-film adaptation of The Happy Sad, directed by Rodney Evans. His plays are published by Dramatists Play Service/Broadway Licensing. He leads the band Occurrence and their latest album Real Friend comes out this month. His first TV pilot The Art of Listening was optioned by ITV and Madison Wells Media. He is currently writing a feature film. Ken is the Senior Lecturer of Theater Arts and Director of Dramatic Writing at MIT. He lives in Washington Heights with his partner, Johnny. www.kenurban.org

Jack Serio is an Obie award-winning New York theatre director. This winter he directed the world premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s Grangeville at Signature Theatre. He also directed the critically acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya staged in a Flatiron loft. The production earned 3 Drama Desk nominations including Best Revival and for it, he was named a "New King of Culture" in Town & Country Magazine. More recently, he directed the U.S. premiere of The Animal Kingdom at The Connelly Theater Upstairs and the return engagement of On Set with Theda Bara at The Brick. He also directed the celebrated U.S. premiere of This Beautiful Future at The Cherry Lane Theater, a NY Times Critic's Pick.  His work has been seen at Playwrights Horizons, Signature, Ars Nova, Clubbed Thumb, 59e59, Cherry Lane, Theaterlab, The Brick, Theater for the New City, and The Pearl Theater Company. Avi Amon is a Turkish-American composer and sound artist. Theater work includes music, songs, & sound design for projects at: Ars Nova, NYTW, The Old Globe, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Page73, Signature Theater, The Public, Target Margin, and Waterwell. Avi’s film scores have been featured at Cannes, Disney, DOCNYC, HBO, Hulu, Slamdance, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, and the 2024 Venice Biennale, among others. Recent highlights: original score for the feature film, The Fisherman, dir. Zoey Martinson (Venice); music & sound design for The Following Evening w/600 Highwaymen (PAC NYC); and two new musicals: The Lesson w/Nolan Doran and Ty Defoe, dir. Raja Feather Kelly (Ars Nova), and Through the Sunken Lands w/Tim Lord (Kennedy Center). Current/Upcoming: Avi’s score for the documentary, Everything You Have Is Yours, is available on all streaming platforms and Mother/Road, a multimedia performance piece exploring grief & memory, will premiere at The Shed in 2026.
